The general layout of Downtown Cancun is as follows:

The Downtown area of Cancun are the blocks that surround City Hall. How many blocks? There's not a specific number, what's considered the actual "downtown" will vary from people to people. For example many people don't consider Wall Mart to be in Downtown and many do... but that's semantics, in the general aspect most people consider downtown to be the area outside the Hotel Zone. This is also known as "Cancun City".

Cancun City is divided in Neighborhoods. The Neighborhoods closer to downtown or the more developed ones are called "Super Manzanas" and they are numbered, EJ. "SM 15". The Neighborhoods on the outer areas of Cancun are called "Regiones" and they are also numbered, EJ. "Region 93".

Most of the hotels in Downtown Cancun or Cancun City are still in the SM areas. Cancun locals usually tell the taxi drivers the "SM" or "Region" first, and once arriving they say the name of the street and number.
